Trailer brake saga continues

Monday the Chevy dealer that sold me my trailer brake had my truck all day, declared that the unit was working fine, sent me home.
This morning I was up at 5am to hitch up the RV. Got drenched in a deluge of rain (no hail in Bellevue, NE so far this week thank goodness), drove 90m to the RV dealer to get my friction bar remounted and various other little things (below). My RV brakes work great on his truck, are hosed on mine, so we’re now 100% sure the trailer brake controller in my truck went bad somewhere in SE Iowa.
Arrived at the Chevy dealer again at 1pm this time with the RV attached (lol try to tell me it’s working fine NOW, I dare you). They said “oh, ok, we’ll replace it then, come back at 4” because they have to order the part in.
So at 4pm with the RV attached we’ll see if they get my brakes working so I can drive to Denver on Saturday.
I’m trying to make plans, so far this RV thing seems to run on its own schedule of errors and minor mishaps…
The “fix it” RV list so far:
- Friction sway bar mount I bent to all hell (previous photo), now successfully remounted.
- The weather stripping on the front left blew out of the track on the Interstate (warm, windy day). I remounted it with duct tape, which is working fine as a temporary fix. Remounted w/ ladder, removed duct tape, still in place so far.
- Strange patch on back left tire tread. Manufacturing defect? Not a big deal?
- Patch of grip sandpaper on step loosening already.
- Missing at least 1 tire air fill cap.
- Trailer brake system reset (not a trailer problem).
- DVD problem we discussed last week.
