Same meal, totally different experience

I just had lunch. I’ve eaten a chicken salad thousands of times. But rarely like this.

Before Paleo “diet” (17 years): grrr, goddammit I’m hungry. I should eat healthy. Tear a bunch of romaine lettuce into a bowl, sprinkle on some cheese and some chunks of rotisserie/baked chicken. Shovel the fucker in fast (got to get back to work). Create 2nd bowl of the same. Shovel it in. Still hungry. But I know if I wait 15 minutes the hunger pains should go away. Retreat to my desk still hungry, unhappy. 15 minutes later, my mind is back off of food. Two hours after that: grrr, goddammit I’m hungry. -repeat cycle-

On Paleo “diet” (6 days): huh. I could eat I suppose. Prep first bowl (same food as above), eat it. Prepare 2nd bowl, realize I don’t really want it right now. Put it in fridge for later. Return to desk not thinking about food at all.

Same meal for lunch, but by eating Paleo for breakfast (instead of cereal) I’m not on a blood sugar roller coaster all day. The highs and lows are both gone. Food is a non-issue, which is exactly what I want most of the time.

I rode that roller coaster for 17 years and never had any idea I was on one.
